Learning Principles/ Approach/ Strategy

The program focuses on educating employees through building comfort and experience with company policies and procedures, new and old, utilizing the following techniques:

  • Video-based learning with both knowledge delivery and assessment is conducted using interactive videos and personalized avatars to create immersion in animated simulations.
  • Cognitive Load Theory utilizes progressively complex concepts to build a foundation before discussing more complex objections and customers.
  • Constructivist Learning Theory encourages learners to think proactively with relatable customer concerns that learners must handle.

Solutions

In response to a capable but disconnected workforce with difficulty picking up standardized initiatives promptly, our client partnered with Ozemio to create a training program that would ensure training initiatives for practitioners.

Clear Course Objectives: We begin by establishing clear course objectives, serving as a strategic roadmap for learners. These objectives guide participants on their learning journey, ensuring a focused and structured educational experience.

  • Engaging Course Introduction: Our strategic approach includes a captivating course introduction that immerses learners into the world of Insurance Companies. By setting the scene and explaining the role of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), we provide learners with context, enhancing their engagement and understanding.
  • Personalized Avatar Selection: To optimize engagement and attentiveness, learners can create personalized avatars for themselves and their mentors. This strategic choice allows participants to identify with their avatars, fostering a deeper connection to the content.
  • Gamified Office Entry: Our strategy incorporates gamification into the course, providing a dynamic introduction to the inner workings of the insurance company. This gamified approach ensures an immersive and engaging learning experience.
  • Strategic Patient Case Studies: Learners are strategically presented with a series of fictional patient cases. These scenarios encourage participants to consider a multitude of factors, fostering strategic decision-making skills. The scenarios are carefully designed to be realistic and relatable, enhancing the practicality of the learning experience.
  • Challenging Preliminary Quiz: After the patient cases, a strategic quiz challenges learners with questions designed to reveal common misconceptions. This strategic approach encourages participants to reevaluate their preconceptions and facilitates deeper learning.

Implementation / Distribution Process

The modules were designed and built using Articulate Storyline, with videos designed in Adobe Premiere Pro CC and then published in HTML5. The training used vibrant graphics in company colors, with videos and gamified quizzes blended into a fun and effective eLearning program.

Each module covers a different mock client as the learner navigates through the difficult task of being the CMO of the fictitious insurance firm present within the eLearning program. Learners are expected to research the situation, speak to the client, navigate the dynamics at play, and make sound decisions in each case. They are guided by the program to understand each step of the legal process involved in each medical malpractice lawsuit they handle.

Learner Assessment

Each module was concluded by an interactive feedback session detailing the decisions made by the learner and the kinds of complications that might have been caused, followed by a legal expert discussing the correct course of action and a few examples of how such cases turned out for real physicians.

Each simulation was progressively more complex, from easy to challenging, maintaining a healthy balance of circumstances to encourage and push learners at every stage of the course.

Business Impact

  • 65% of learners not currently signed with our client stated that they were more interested in professional liability insurance after the training.
  • The course's flexible design ensures that learners can access it from any device, location, or time. This adaptability caters to the busy schedules and diverse needs of healthcare professionals.
  • 98% of learners stated that the training program was easy to understand and follow.
  • 95% of learners rated the program as more informative and educational than any other eLearning program they had attended.

Feedback

The response to the course among both stakeholders and volunteer testers was resoundingly positive. The client's vice president of education had this to say:

"For a very long time, it has been our wish to have the content development and the LMS live under the same roof. With Ozemio this wish was able to come true. Our physicians are having a terrific learning experience. Our course is a huge hit. The physician-users love navigating through the course and seem to be doing so with great ease. The look and feel of the course are awesome. The avatars really take the course to a new level - and the opportunity to select both the CMO and the Mentor has been a fabulous experience in helping the client engage with the content.

From the opening splash page, the course is riveting. The avatars, the insurance company design, and the elevator that feels and sounds like it is moving from floor to floor- all keep the learner closely tuned in. Learning occurs, and reinforcement is just around the next turn with such a layer of richness in the interactivities. Each module has its own identity, and the physicians are highly satisfied with the module structure's layout, order, organization, and content.

At this time, we have had nearly 400 physicians complete the course, with over 95% reporting that they were extremely satisfied and not a single complaint. That number will expand to several thousand in the months ahead. Physicians are a challenging audience to satisfy. And this is compliance training, a mandated experience. And the course is long. All obstacles to a good user experience. However, the course is so wonderful and is running so well on the LMS; we are hearing about all good experiences and reading about the learning taking place."
